A First in Taichung’s Tax History: Japanese and Korean Tax Professionals Visit the Local Tax Bureau Together, Praising Its Top-Notch Public Services!

(Taichung News) A China-Japan-Korea tax exchange event was held today (the 5th) at the Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government. A delegation of 30 distinguished international guests from the Tokyo Certified Public Tax Accountants’ Association, Toshima Branch (Japan), and the Busan Regional CTA Association (Korea) attended. The Bureau received the delegation with the highest level of hospitality; showcasing Taichung’s welcoming charm and earning unanimous praise from the Japanese and Korean guests. The event not only promoted Taichung as a livable city and its major development projects, but also served as a successful people-to-people diplomacy exchange.
The Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government stated that this major event was facilitated by the Chung Hwa Industrial and Commercial Taxation Association. To welcome the distinguished guests from the two countries, Director-General Cheng-An Shen personally led a guided tour, providing a detailed introduction in the front courtyard to the building’s carefully crafted architectural design and its people-friendly environment. In the subsequent briefing, Director-General Shen also delivered a dynamic city-promotion presentation on behalf of Mayor Shiow-Yen Lu, showcasing Taichung’s major recent infrastructure projects, the city’s cultural character, local cuisine, and signature attractions, while also sharing multiple public-friendly measures promoted by the Bureau, presenting an image of both the agency and the city that combines intelligence, progress, and warmth.
The Local Tax Bureau of Taichung City Government noted that, during the guided tour, the Bureau showcased to the visiting guests the nation’s first UTax (Your Tax) self-service tax kiosk, as well as an archives exhibition displaying valuable historical records, allowing them to fully experience the many facets of Taichung’s tax administration. The Japanese and Korean guests said that the visit was highly rewarding, and that Taichung’s warm hospitality, the professionalism of its tax administration, and the Bureau’s thoughtful services all left a deep impression. Director Zheng-an Shen, on behalf of Mayor Shiow-Yen Lu, also expressed the hope that the Japanese and Korean guests would visit Taichung again.
