Separate Contracts for Elevator Purchase and Installation Can Save Stamp Tax

(Taichung News) According to the Taichung City Government's Local Tax Bureau, the public recently inquired about the stamp tax on installing elevators in newly constructed buildings.
The Local Tax Bureau explained that if the parties involved in the contract include both the purchase and installation of the elevator in a single contract for a general contracting agreement, the stamp tax should be paid at a rate of 1‰ of the total contract amount. However, if separate contracts are signed for the elevator purchase and the elevator installation, the stamp tax for the elevator purchase is NT$12 per deed for the sale of movables. The stamp tax for the elevator installation contract is 1‰ of the contracting amount, which can legally reduce the stamp tax burden.
The bureau particularly reminds the public to use tax payment notices to pay the stamp tax. This method can save time and avoid the inconvenience of purchasing and affixing tax stamps and canceling them, as well as preventing the loss or damage of tax stamps and saving time compared to in-person processing. For any questions regarding the assessment of stamp tax or for further details on related regulations and information, feel free to call the toll-free service hotline at 0800-000321 or 04-22585000 and press 1 to connect to the A++ Station, where dedicated staff can help.
