Payment Notice: Scan the 3 Barcodes and Pay Easily Without Leaving Home

(Taichung News) During his lunch break, Chen rushed to the Taichung Branch of the Administrative Enforcement Agency, Ministry of Justice, to pay a vehicle license tax under a compulsory enforcement case. Only then did he realize he hadn't brought enough cash. However, with the assistance of the tax bureau's onsite staff, he used his phone to scan the three barcodes on the notice and quickly made the payment. On his way out, he complimented the convenience of Taichung City's tax services!
According to the Local Tax Bureau of the Taichung City Government, when receiving a notice to pay compulsory enforcement fees for local taxes, besides using methods like postal bill of exchange, paying at convenience stores (for amounts under NT$30,000), or going in person to the Bureau or the Taichung Branch of the enforcement agency for a payment slip, there’s now a much easier option. With just a mobile device, you can download any of four tax payment apps—Easy Wallet, JKO Pay, Pxpay Plus, or Beepay—scan the three barcodes on the notice, and complete the payment online from home, making the process fast and convenient.
The Local Tax Bureau noted that convenience stores do not provide collection services for payments over NT$30,000, so the three-barcode section isn’t printed on the payment notice. In such cases, taxpayers need to contact the enforcement agency (Taichung Branch) or the Bureau to get a “Payment Slip for Overdue Taxes and Financial Penalties Transferred to the Administrative Enforcement Agency’s Branch.” The easiest way to pay is by either scanning the three barcodes with a tax app or using a mobile device to scan the TWQR code on the slip, which links directly to the online tax payment service website for quick mobile payment.
The Bureau stressed that after a compulsory enforcement payment slip is issued, payments, whether through scanning the three barcodes or the TWQR code, must be completed by the deadline. They also reminded taxpayers that when using online tax payment options through a demand deposit account, only the taxpayer’s own account can be used. However, this rule doesn’t apply if you’re paying by credit card, chip card, or electronic payment account.
To better accommodate various needs, the Local Tax Bureau has installed credit card machines at the full-service counters of its eight branches, as well as at locations like the Taichung Motor Vehicles Office, Fongyuan Station and Taichung City Station of the Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the Taichung Branch of the Administrative Enforcement Agency. These machines allow on-site credit card payments for taxes, and the public is encouraged to take advantage of this service. If anyone has further questions, please call the free hotline at 0800-000321 or 04-22585000 and press 1 to connect to the A++ Station, where dedicated personnel will be available to help.
